Some schools, particularly non-government schools often talk about a ‘wait list’. This refers to a list of prospective students who have registered to commence at the School at a certain level; however the school does not have the capacity to offer a place due to availability, for the students.

Wait list allocation is at the discretion of the school and often dependent on the variables identified for enrolment and the weighting/preference given. These could include siblings currently at the school,  religious affiliation, old scholar relation, date of enquiry or age.

Often wait lists are evident at the key entry points to the school.
