Waldorf (Steiner) education is an approach that sees the role of a child’s imagination in learning as the focus. It strives to integrate holistically the intellectual, practical, and artistic development of students. Developed by Rudolf Steiner in Germany in 1919, an Austrian philosopher, social reformer, architect, artist and scientist in response to a request from the owner of the Waldorf-Astoria cigarette factory to open a school for the workers’ children.
